Medina masjid Husains Umrah

In the city of Medina, the majority of hotels are strategically situated in three areas surrounding the Prophet's Mosque: the north, west, and south zones. These areas offer convenient access to the mosque, allowing pilgrims to easily reach it for prayers and visits.

Where as in Makkah, where luxury hotels and economy hotels are typically segregated, Medina has a distinctive arrangement where hotels of varying star ratings coexist in the same vicinity. This means that within a short distance from the mosque, you have the flexibility to choose between a 5-star luxury hotel or a 3-star economy hotel, both located just 2 minutes away from the mosque entrance.

However, despite their close proximity and shared location, there are significant differences in terms of cost and amenities between luxury and economy hotels. Luxury hotels generally provide a wider range of amenities and services, including spacious rooms, high-quality furnishings, multiple dining options, recreational facilities, spa services, and personalized attention. These hotels often come with a higher price tag due to the enhanced comfort and luxury they offer.

On the other hand, economy hotels, while still conveniently located near the mosque, provide more affordable accommodation options. They usually have simpler room configurations, fewer amenities, and limited dining choices. The focus is primarily on offering basic comfort and facilitating pilgrims' access to the mosque.

Alhamdulillah, having the privilege to visit medina many a times, I have a personal preference for staying in the northern area of Medina due to its multitude of advantages. Firstly, it offers unparalleled ease of access to the mosque, making it exceptionally convenient for entering and immersing oneself in the spiritual atmosphere. Moreover, the ladies' entrance is easily reachable, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience for female travellers.

In addition, the northern area boasts an extensive array of dining options. While the old food court is currently undergoing extensive renovations, a brand-new food court has recently been constructed, offering a diverse range of culinary delights. Furthermore, the area is adorned with numerous cafes, providing tranquil spaces to unwind and savour a delightful cup of coffee or tea.

However, it is important to note that the northern area's advantages come at a higher cost compared to the southern and western zones. The hotels in the north tend to be more expensive, reflecting their prime location and enhanced amenities.

On the other hand, the southern zone presents its own set of positives. One notable benefit is the comparatively lower cost of accommodation. Moreover, it provides swift access to pay homage to the Prophet, enabling a profoundly spiritual experience. Additionally, it is in close proximity to the new Quba Walk, a vibrant destination offering a multitude of shopping and culinary experiences, adding a refreshing dimension to your pilgrimage journey.

For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the western zone offers the most economical accommodations. Although the area currently has limited options for dining and shopping, it is just a few minutes' walk to the Quba Walk and a slightly longer stroll to the bustling northern area.

Ultimately, the choice of hotel zone depends on individual preferences, budgetary considerations, and desired experiences during the pilgrimage. Whether prioritizing convenience, luxury, affordability, or exploration of vibrant shopping and dining destinations
